What is counselling and psychotherapy?
My training and experience enables me to offer both short term counselling or longer term psychotherapy, depending on what each person needs.
Short term counselling is generally from 12-20 weekly sessions and can be very helpful for people who want to focus on a specific problem or who just need some time to think about their difficulties in a non-judgemental and supportive environment so they can find the right way forward for themselves.
Longer term psychotherapy is again regular and weekly but tends to be more explorative enabling the client to gain greater self-awareness. Clients learn to recognise how they think about themselves in relationships with other people and understand where their particular patterns of relating with others come from and why they may have formed in the first place. This process of personal development opens up new ways of experiencing life, creating many beneficial changes.
